You are offline!

Important: To ensure that the antivirus engine receives updates to protect you from the latest threats you must connect to the Internet!

While being offline keeps you at a significantly lower risk for catching a virus, you can still be exposed to threats in other ways - and your Avast cannot update meanwhile. With an Internet connection you can also access more program features, and view more help content.

For now, read about a few Avast tools to help you battle malware:

Smart Scan

Smart Scan combines several Avast features to provide a comprehensive scan of your system and network. At the end of the scan any threats are reported and you can then take action.

To run a scan, go to the main Overview screen in Avast and click the Smart Scan button.

Boot-time Scan

This scan runs at system startup to access files that cannot be detected while the system is already running. If you suspect a virus, it is recommended to run a boot-time scan.

Go to Scan → Scan for Viruses select Boot-time Scan from the drop-down menu in the top right corner of the screen, and click Start. The scan will run at the next system startup.

To create a Rescue Disk, insert an empty CD or USB drive with at least 500 MB of free space. Go to Tools → Rescue Disk and select the media type in the top right corner of the screen. Eject the media device when complete and it is ready to use.
